Edge Grinding Wheels for Glass

When grinding automotive, appliance, and optical glass, dimensional accuracy, edge quality, and process stability are the central concerns. Different glass types – from float glass to tempered and heat-strengthened glass, coated or partially tempered variants – require a tool with defined cutting ability and controlled chip formation.

Metal-bonded diamond grinding wheels are used for series and high-volume production. They enable economical grinding of trim edges, chamfers, C-edges, and complex profiles while maintaining high reproducibility of the edge structure.

Optimized metal bonds provide even grain exposure and stable engagement conditions. This reduces micro-chipping at the glass edge and minimizes chip-size variation – after reprofiling, chip-size deviation in practice is below 1 %.

M series: EHWA diamond grinding wheels in metal bond

EHWA's M-series bonds (MB, MC, and MG) are characterized by high grinding performance and versatility. The main constituents of this bond are iron, copper, cobalt, carbide, and other materials. MG and MC sit in the medium-hard bond hardness range, with high tool life and relatively high grinding performance.
